Greater Scholars Online Learning Update

Dear Parents,

We hope you had a restful holiday in-spite of the COVID-19 pandemic. It has been a very unsettling period across the globe, but we hope that together we will overcome this hurdle and come out better and stronger.

The last term came to an abrupt halt just before our End of Term Examinations. However, we have been able to compute Aegrotat Reports based on First and Second Tests recorded earlier on in the term. These reports have now been sent via email.

In order to secure public health and curb further spread of the virus, the government has instructed a lockdown in key cities, including Lagos State. As a result, schools all over the state have been physically closed for the time being. Sadly, we cannot predict when the lock down will be lifted and in the event that it is, whether schools will be allowed to re-open immediately.

Although schools have been physically closed, we believe that our children should not be deprived of  quality education – especially given the uncertain nature of this current situation. As a response, all over the world, educators are rising to the occasion by engaging students in online learning. Likewise, Greater Scholars has been engaged in working out the modalities that will allow us to provide online learning in the most convenient and effective way for our students.

As a result, we are pleased to announce that the Greater Scholars Online programme will commence on Monday the 20th of April. We intend to use mainly Google Classroom (LMS) and Zoom to conduct real-time online  classes via video calls. Overtime, the students will be gradually introduced to subsequent applications. We will be uploading the necessary worksheets and learning materials needed by our students, as well as additional learning resources to further enhance their studies. We are very excited to roll out this programme as we believe it will be a useful learning tool for our students long after the pandemic.

We will be sending additional information regarding setting up the applications, schedules, passwords and general guidance as to the how the programme will work. We will also forward our policy on online learning, and a note on how our parents can collaborate with us in guiding our students on expected behaviour during the programme.

Stay safe,

Mrs. Comfort Ukpong.
Director,
